The prizing ceremony of the Mathematical Database Essay competition will be held on 28 May 2005 (Sat) 3:00pm to 4:30pm at Lecture Theatre T6, Ming Wah Complex, at the University of Hong Kong. We are happy to have with us our three judges, Professor Man-keung Siu of HKU, Professor Kin-Yin Li of HKUST and Professor Thomas Kwok-keung Au of CUHK as our honorable guests. We are also delighted to have Professor Siu delivering a public mathematics talk on some interesting allocation problems on the same day. This function is open to public. To understand such allocation problems, one only needs a fairly minimal amount of mathematical knowledge. However, this can be great fun, as will be illustrated in Professor Siu’s talk. Let us share this in the expository talk of Professor Siu!
